After putting a lot of time and effort into collecting "all of the comedy events on the public internet" the next thought has become: "now what?"
Mosh's post, "Building for Organizers", got me to thinking about how laugh.town can be an organizing tool. There's a lot of work to do around promoting laugh.town as a useful thing for the comedy community and I hope to do this through comedians who are starting out, promoters, and clubs. One thing I've come to though, are the organizers who wish to pick out "the good stuff" for their area. For these people, the obvious feature to me is "Lists".
Lists of what?
Everything. Clubs, Comedians, individual shows, and the fanciest one: Show Series. The Show Series are a hidden feature on laugh.town right now, but I'm proud of how powerful they can be. Here's an example of one (viewed with the special laugh.town organizer role - DM me if you want this capability): https://laugh.town/shows/aparna-nancherla-is-trying-again-the-lyric-hyperion-2026-11-01-530pm
If you squint, you'll see "Part of Aparna Nancherla is Trying". In our collecting of events to list on atproto and laugh.town, we are tagging series events (they're reoccuring on some cadence and roughly have the same name). This makes it possible to make a list like: "LA Improv Shows" by picking a mix from: Improv only venues, Series from clubs that run reoccuring Improv shows, and individual events for whatever is left to add.
The Calendar
This is where it starts to get really powerful. Because we can associate all events to their clubs, comedians, or series, we can make calendars that reflect the curated set from those items. Here is the Calendar:
This example list consists of 7 venues and 69 series.
The Lyric Hyperion: Story Jam, Writer's Block, Grace Bahler's Braided

The Elysian Theater: Duo Duel, The Famous People Improv Show, Yeti or Not!
World's Greatest Improv School: All shows
This one is a lot, but once it's setup, should be relatively stable as an ongoing calendar for this particular curated collection. This list is long largely because there's a ton going on in LA, it's just a great place to be for comedy (and every other sort of entertainment for that matter).
Lists are in invite-only beta
The long-term plan for lists is to open it up to any and all organizers in each city laugh.town covers. The start plan is to run this as an invite-only beta, so that I can hold a conversation with organizers to figure out how exactly to shape the lists feature to work for everything. DM me or email me (tyler@laugh.town) if you'd like to try things out!
